2007 TLC Accomplishments

TLC is a non-profit organization that annually serves over 600 foster children and youths in Northern California who have been abandoned, neglected or abused. For over 30 years, TLC Child & Family Services has been a guardian of foster care children.

We are proud of our 2007 accomplishments.

  • We successfully placed 181 foster children (67% increase from 2006) in 85 foster homes. 96 of those children were able to return to their natural home, a relative's home or an adoptive home.
  • We finalized 39 (3% increase from 2006) adoptions and provided adoptive parents with support groups and education.
  • We operated the only Emergency Shelter Care program for Mendocino County, serving 254 children (97% increase from 2006) who were removed from their homes because of abuse or neglect.
  • Our Transitional Housing Placement Program assisted 37 teens (218% increase from 2006) guidance towards independence and integration into our community.
  • Our fully accredited Journey High School educated 65 students (44% increase from 2006) with emotional and learning disabilities and helped 5 students earn their diploma.
  • Our three residentially based programs provided structured care and counseling to 37 teens (5% increase from 2006) with emotional and learning disabilities. Most teens reunited with their families of went onto independent living.

We have much more to do and there are so many more children that need our support. With your help, we can make a difference in the lives of foster children and strengthen our local communities!
