2008 Fundraising Goals

$300,000 will make an amazing difference in the number of children we can support with services.

$40,000 - Transitional Housing Programs
TLC operates two Transitional Housing Programs for Sonoma County; one for teens 16-19 years and young adults, ages 19-24. We work towards finding housing, furnishing an apartment, paying rent, and provide 6-8 hours of professional support for independent living and vocational counseling. To provide furnishings and basic needs for independent living is $ 2,000 per client.

$25,000 - Fostering Connections
Fostering Connections is a new program for 2008 that provides counseling to any foster child in Sonoma County at no cost to them or their family. It is staffed by volunteer counselors (MFT, psychologists) who donate their professional time weekly to work with a foster child as long as is needed.

$150,000 - Residential Treatment Home
TLC has a permit/license/approval to begin building a residential treatment home for 10 boys on our TLC campus estimated to cost $ 650,000. We have raised $ 400,000. This will make two residential units on our seven-acre property outside Sebastopol.

$10,000 - Parent Support Group for Adopitve and Foster Care Parents
TLC works with over 150 parents each month in dealing with issues around adoption and foster care. Families come together for an evening meal and classes where they share the trials and tribulations uniqued to caring for foster children. There are educational topics presented by professionals in child care. Adoptive and foster children also share their experiences with other children and learn that they are not "alone".

$20,000 - Journey High School Gymnasium Sound System*
TLC's Journey High Schools provides 48 students with special education. Our gymnasium is wonderful…..except for the extremely poor sound system. It is difficult to have assemblies or use the gym for public purposes without improving the sound quality.

$50,000 - Journey High School Culinary Arts Program*
TLC has an onsite lunch program staffed by a nutritionist who provides organic, healthful hot lunch choices for our students. Our goal us to turn this kitchen (located in our gymnasium) into a culinary kitchen that can be used as a vocational training experience for our Journey High School Students and for the 40 youths enrolled in our transitional housing programs.

*A benefit of completing the revisions to our gymnasium sound system and kitchen would allow us to rent the facility to the community and raise money for our service projects for foster children and their families. The gymnasium can hold 250 people.
