RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT PROGRAMS

Some adolescents have such severe emotional problems that remaining in their home environment is no longer feasible. Anger, acting out, self-injury and other disturbances challenge our client's safety. Parents, family members, and social workers then look for a residential treatment program that will help their child gain skills, understanding, and coping techniques to interact with the community in a more positive, consistent manner.

TLC operates three group homes in Sebastopol, CA, Phoenix House, Orchard House and Coast House each housing 8-10 adolescents to aid in the successful transition from institutional care to return to their own homes or independent living arrangements.

Staff for our residential houses are counselors and childcare professionals with a passion for working with adolescents and their families. Each child will have an individualized treatment plan created for them at intake with input from family members, referring agency and the teenager. The treatment plan can include any or all of the following: individual, family and group therapy; therapeutic and recreation programs; special education resources; chemical and substance abuse counseling; life skills training; spiritual and cultural programming; and vocational assessments and counseling. Many of the residents attend Journey High School. Client funding for the residentially-based services is dependent on the referring agency.
